March Rains Bring?

This next storm coming Sunday night and Monday could be even more severe than the one on Thursday.  Temps will be in the upper 60's throughout the region.  Make sure you have a plan and a secure place to go if conditions become severe. The forecast outlook for the week looks good with the exception of Sunday and Monday.  Temps in the lower 60's to high 50's for highs with a few cool  to cold mornings for lows.  These storms more than likely will be coming in at different intervals possible from 3PM this afternoon (Sunday) into the early morning tomorrow (Monday) say up to 12 noon.  Be prepared keep a ear to the weather radio.

The GFS 12z model is showing this below for the Morning of 2/28/11.

Rain amounts are forecast to be lower than for the last event. In the neighborhood of 1" to2".  Still flooding  may be a problem considering the saturated ground.  If water is over the roadway remember turn around don't drown!!!

The scary part out of this system is the temperature difference.  Temperatures are predicted to be in the high 60's and the Low coming in will be Cold air.  Dropping temperatures down as it goes thru. Generally, as warm and cold air masses collide it yields' high winds, rain, thunderstorms and tornadoes.  It is also forecasted for early morning around 6AM when people will be getting up or starting to go to work and school.  Not a great scenario.

The long range outlook is more chances for precipitation in the following 10-15 day outlook.  Temperatures in 10 to 15 days outlook are cooler and less seasonable.  May see teens again in the 10-15 day outlook, hard to say for sure ,but the possible exist.  Will update on the upcoming storm as new info becomes available.  I will update thru Facebook and Twitter so use Les's Weather Links on Facebook for updates.

Warm temps and rain on the horizon

What a great day today it was with temps here reaching 64.9°F at the weather station at the house.  Wind  was high with average 22.8 mph and a  max gust of 32.7 mph recorded at 3 PM.

Looking for the week a head.  A week cold front will keep temps lower on  Valentines day (maybe some sparks from hearts will heat it up more)  along with  some clouds on Tuesday  making temps around the mid 50's .  Wednesday looks like we may see  a misty day with temps in the 60's to mid-60's and clouds varying from Wednesday-Friday.  The  weekend looks like clouds and rain temps in the mid 50's

The week of the 21st - 25th February looks to be wet very wet. Temps also will dip down to more seasonable average.
Above is precipitation for February 22nd, this is the heavier band of the week but the week is looking very wet overall.

I will update as changes will be needed to tweak the outlook data.  Follow me on Les's Weather Links  on Facebook for additional weather notes.

Looking ahead

This week looks to be active again in precipitation for the week. Big news for this week is temperature and snow.   Forecast looks like after tonight we will be struggling to be above freezing for most of the week. Snow Monday and then again Wednesday hard to say for sure for Wednesday but will plan for it currently.   I'm thinking Saturday may be looking to much on the positive for temperature up turn. Right now thinking Sunday but I will not be upset, if I'm wrong if it comes sooner.

Week of the 14th looks to be temperatures above normal but with warm temps we may have to watch out for storms for the beginning of that week and possibly bouts during the week.  We need the rain just hope we don't have storms.

This map shows forecasted temps for Sunday the 13th, Temps will be in the high 50's to 60's (map provide by Weather Underground)

As there are differences to when the warm up shows up.  The fact that we are having a warm up is good news.
