Looking Back and Looking Ahead

Today has been a windy day with showers this morning and a few this after noon.  Not a lot of high wind or rain just a constant steady wind bringing in those cooler temperatures for tonight and several days this week.  Now looks to be a good time to look at records from last month to now.  First lets look at rain for the last 30 days.

Here is rain from the last 30 days

Wow just unreal the amount of rain we have received.

Temperatures

These are temperature highs and lows from the 14th of April.

Looking at today's temperature graph shows where we are headed lower temps for tonight and into the beginning of the work week.

Last but not least is the wind graph today even as I write this tonight it continues blowing.

This was taken from earlier tonight.

How does this week look?

Spotty showers Sunday and early morning Monday not real sure if they will be heavy or if there will be much precipation.  Though this shows clear Tuesday thru Thursday this may change (will post changes on Facebook if that happens) and shower chances show up again Friday and Saturday.  Looking further down the line looks that from around the 21st of May on looks busy in the weather department again.  Just keep those rubber boots handy.  To far out currently but will watch developments.  One model was looking bad for parts of LA near the Mississippi river with the forecast maps, bears watching.

Holding our own

This update lowers heavy rain chances on Thursday to less than a 1/2".  It will possible be a little more than a 25".  Attached a model SWRF image showing possible amounts.  Saturday rainfall should be lower unless it gets a trigger to blow up precipitation amounts will update as new data comes available.  Next week still shows chances for precipitation on Wednesday and Friday.

Late Thursday Friday Precipitation SWRF

Have not used this model a lot so we will see how good it plays out.

May add more later this is all for now got to get to bed,

Craziness Continues

Remember in my prior blog where I mentioned you don't want to know the extended forecast.  Here I pick up where I left off.  As I write this we have received 2.15" rain from Saturday and early morning Sunday here in Calvert City ,KY.  More rain is expected this afternoon, somewhere in the .50 - 1" category.  Could see some severe weather this afternoon check facebook for updates and twitter if things get severe. Monday and Tuesday look to be very wet as well.  looking at 4-6" after all is said and done.  Wednesday and Thursday will be nice.

Here is a graphic forecast of the week.

So what is going to happen after Saturday.  Words that describe this is Ditto, here we go again and broken record.  Below are graphic you really do not want to see but here they are.

Friday/ Saturday 5/6/11- 5/7/11

Sunday/Monday 5/8/11 - 5/9/11

Tuesday-Wednesday 5/10/11 - 5/11/11

Thursday 5/12/11

Friday 5/13/11

If the rain continues to fall this will go from a disaster to a catastrophic tragedy in slow motion.  Lets pray that this will not happen.
There looks to be chances for 5/14/11 and 5/15/11 but looks low at this point.  As stated in prior blogs this is not exact but gives a general idea of what is coming down the pipe.  The GFS maps are from Weather Underground and forecast is from weatherforyou.    Keep a eye to the sky and don't drive though flooded roadways. Will give updates on Face book at Les's Weather Link's and follow on Twitter at Plantit2. Good day see you later this afternoon.
