Time To Prepare

OK, I DO want to excite you into action.  The next few days are going to be scary for the area.  A elevated state for tornadoes, high chance for thunderstorms and epic rain amounts are forecast everything but snow.  Below is from the National Weather Service in Paducah for conditions coming up.

Rainfall amounts will continue to be persistent though Tuesday and Wednesday.  Below is a graph from the NWS in Paducah

You can see that large quantities in the 5 day outlook and sure enough there will be pockets of greater amounts and hopefully lesser amounts but I would not bet on it.

Below is radar at around 7:30 PM Sunday, see that big blob of rain in the four corners of OK, MO, AR, and KS is headed this way and it is huge and may be mad when it gets here and cause us worry and misery.

Historical Flooding Predicted

As in my prior blog here comes the rain,  A little different but as I stated it gives you a good idea of what is coming.  The rain coming today thru Wednesday looks bad.  We have received 7.30 " from the 11th to currently  for here in Calvert City.  If we add the projected 10.1" for 5 days it is going to be unreal.

Here is the 1-5 day cumulative forecast for precipitation.

This amount is just crazy but expected to be close to predited amounts.  If you live near a creek, river or low lying area that gets high during heavy rain,  make plans now and be ready to go with it.  This is going to be a problem for all cities and towns along the Ohio, Missippippi, lower Tennesse and Cumberland rivers.

Forecast for the week

I was going to put in some model maps for after Thursday but its too depressing.  I 'll add that next Friday and Saturday look good and I just won't mention  Sunday or Monday, email me if you must have it.

Rain Rain go away or Build a Ark

We have recievied a good down pore of rain today and it will finish up tonight and in the early morning.  Rain fall totals currently are 3.25" Murray, 1.5" Paducah, 2.12" Mayfield, 2.02" Fulton and 2.50" Calvert City, KY.  We will not have rain day after day this week but if the GFS model is any indication for the 8-15 days weather will be active with rain and some storms to watch.  Nothing in concrete but will be monitored as  things get closer.  Tempertures will be a roller coaster ride with fewer high warm peaks expected and more cooler mornings.  Overall the trend looks to be overall cooler to normal temps in the 8-15 day outlook.

Here is the weeks forecast. Subject to change of course.    Thursday night looks to be rainy.

These models may be over stating things but they are a good indicator of what is coming down the road, it does look rainy to say the least.

Will up date if things get severe and time allows.  Keep a eye to the sky.  As always do not use this as a  weather warning system just a good weather source.
